Day 1 Anesthesia & Monitoring 101 & 201 (VI-AMT3) 101 TRAINING TOPICS INCLUDE: • Anesthesia machine theory of operation, function of components and flow of gases • Proper equipment maintenance for long-term performance and better patient outcomes • Overview of ACVAA anesthetic monitoring guidelines for small animals • Five-parameter hands-on monitoring, including circulation, oxygenation and ventilation • Vital signs measurement and interpretation 201 TRAINING TOPICS INCLUDE: • Reviewing ACVAA/AAHA monitoring/anesthesia guidelines • Setting up the patient for an anesthetic case • Using best practices for balanced anesthesia/painmanagement • Troubleshooting vital signs readings and anestheticcomplications • Developing an anesthesia record-keeping plan     Day 2 Foundations in Veterinary Anesthesia & Simulation Workshop (VI-AMT-SIM) LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Understand the placement, operation and maintenance of anesthesia and monitoring equipment Recall ACVAA monitoring and anesthesia guidelines Understand balanced anesthesia and pain management best practices and proper record-keeping Initiate direct, effective communication with surgery room team members Calculate and deliver fluid administration rates Identify, address and manage complications in an anesthetized canine Respond to changes in heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure or other physiologic parameters in a timely and appropriate fashion
